Over the 21-plus years of production, Canon introduced 134 different FD lenses ranging from 7.5mm through 1,200mm in seventeen different fixed focal lengths and nineteen different zoom ranges, one of the most, if not the most, extensive manual focus lens lines ever produced.

The Canon FD system enjoyed huge popularity in the 1970s and 1980s when it established and grew a market share with professional photographers. This makes the CANON FD very attractive to 35mm film photographers who demand the highest optical quality, while not needing autofocus capability.

We have complete sets of 1970s Canon FD primes rehoused by TLS.

 By now the secret is out, that Canon FD lenses are a perfect fit for cinematography, especially Full Frame cinematography.

TLS replaced the original 8-blade irises with new 16-blade irises. So not only does your bokeh stay circular when stopped down, it also makes the set more consistent from lens to lens.

Our lenses were hand-picked by us for optical quality but also to ensure the set matches from lens to lens.

The TLS 18mm is our optical recipe, and you will not find this lens anywhere else. The lens consists of genuine 1970s Canon FD elements, with some additional optics used to create a high-speed, aspherical, vintage lens, that covers Full Frame sensors. The 35mm is a Minolta lens from the 1980s. It’s also a Japanese-made, aspherical lens, with performance, bokeh, and flare character very similar to the 24mm, 55mm, and 85mm FDs.

The Canon FD lenses perfectly match the Canon FD zoom 150-600 T6.7 for the most demanding telephoto shots!

This lens is the ultimate super-telephoto. It is based on the legendary Canon 150-600mm f5.6. Century Precision Optics rehoused the lens for proper cinema use.

Forget choosing between 200mm, 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, and 600mm primes. This lens covers most super-telephoto focal lengths at a constant T6.7 (f5.6) across the entire range, with no ramping, and image quality that matches any telephoto prime. It’s sharp, extremely well-corrected for all aberrations, and focus breathing is minimal.

TLS Re-house

Our set has been rehoused by the highly regarded team at TLS in the UK and has PL mounts, consistent 110mm fronts and standard cine gearing for focus and iris. The modern housings are a pleasure to use for motion photography – something that was never intended for the original mechanical housings.

Iris Blades

TLS replaced the original 8-blade irises with new 16-blade irises. So not only does your bokeh stay circular when stopped down, they also make the set more consistent from lens to lens. In the original FDs the 8-blade iris gives your bokeh a stop-sign shape to pin-point highlights.
