MIR-20M 20mm T3.6 (F3.5)
The widest rectilinear lens in the Soviet lineup, based on the Zeiss Flektogon design. The MIR-20M delivers a deep perspective with soft edge falloff, soft contrast and a naturalistic rendering of space, with moderate flare and neutral color temperature. Reads architecture and lines in the frame without distortion or “chewing” edges.
In the MKII rehousing, its close-focus distance is maintained at just 17cm, allowing for immersive wide shots without distortion.
MIR-10A 28mm T3.6 (F3.5)
Unlike most Soviet lenses, the MIR-10A is a unique design with no Western counterpart. It’s known for its clean rendering, subtle contrast and minimal distortion – making it one of the most neutral wide angle options in the MKII lineup. Contrast and sharp in the center, but with a smooth drop in sharpness at the edges that adds depth.
Slight warm vignetting and pronounced side-light flare give a softness to the image and 0.2m minimum focus opens up expressive close-up compositions.
MIR-1B 37mm T2.9 (F2.8)
Based on the classic Zeiss Flektogon, this lens is renowned for its wide and medium angles of view with stunning flare and contrast. The original version suffered from a limited minimum focusing distance, but in the MKII re-housing we have improved this characteristic by reducing the minimum distance from 0.70m to 0.36m, making it ideal for shooting close-ups without losing image quality even at short distances.
Helios 77M-4 50mm T2.1 (F1.8)
A refined descendant of the Helios Biotar family, the 77M-4 adds sharper center performance and more controlled swirly bokeh than its 44-2 predecessor. In some frames, the background becomes so intense that it almost dominates the image-not subtle, not gentle, but undeniably inimitable. It’s also offering better contrast and resolution, especially wide open.
Helios 44-2 58mm T2.1 (F2)
A legendary lens, renowned for its incredible plasticity and iconic bokeh. In the MKII body, we’ve retained all the magic of the original Helios, but made it much more comfortable to work with, eliminating mechanical flaws such as the fiddly aperture control and unreliable M42 mount. Now it’s a rugged tool for professional work, with an improved body, gears for focus fall-off.
Jupiter-9 85mm T2.1 (F2)
The Jupiter-9, based on the Zeiss Sonnar optical system, completes the trio. Its 15-blade aperture provides exceptional bokeh, while maintaining a round shape at any aperture. This lens is great for shooting tight portraits and creating deeply blurred backgrounds. At wide open, it doesn’t blur the background—it brushes it. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.75m, the Jupiter-9 is the perfect choice for those looking for expressive, ‘bohemian’ shots with an emphasis on detail and depth.
Tair-11A 135mm T2.9 (F2.8)
The Tair-11A is a long telephoto with remarkable sharpness and painterly background separation. Its 15-blade aperture ensures perfectly round bokeh and a unique softness in the background, even at higher stops. In MKII rehousing, this lens becomes much more usable on set, with a smoother 300° focus throw and solid all-metal build.
