BLACKMAGIC DESIGN Videohub 40×40 12G Compact

The Blackmagic Videohub 40×40 12G is a professional, zero-latency SDI video router designed for broadcast, live production, post-production, studio, and professional AV environments requiring flexible routing of a large number of video signals. The router provides 40 x 12G-SDI inputs and 40 x 12G-SDI outputs, allowing any input signal to be routed to any output without introducing additional video delay.

The Videohub 40×40 12G supports a wide range of SDI video standards, from standard-definition SD-SDI through HD, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI, including Ultra HD up to 2160p60 and 4K DCI up to 4Kp60. The router can handle different video standards simultaneously, allowing individual inputs to operate at different SDI rates without requiring a single common format across the entire router.

A built-in 5-inch color LCD display provides monitoring and routing information directly from the front panel. The display can show video before routing as well as routing labels and video standards. Local operation is available through the integrated control panel, which includes 24 routing buttons, additional menu controls and a large search dial with an electronic clutch for convenient signal selection and navigation.

For signal integrity, the Videohub 40×40 12G incorporates SDI re-clocking on all outputs and supports automatic detection and switching between 270 Mb/s SD-SDI, 1.5G HD-SDI, 3G-SDI Level A and Level B, 6G-SDI and 12G-SDI. It supports YUV 4:2:2 and RGB 4:4:4 video sampling, with 10-bit and 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 support in applicable HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K formats. Supported color spaces include Rec. 601, Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020.

The router also provides Tri-Sync or Black Burst reference inputs and a reference loop output for integration into synchronized broadcast and production systems. Ethernet connectivity supports 10/100/1000 Base-T for network-based configuration and control, while a USB-C computer interface is provided for software updates and related functions.

External control is supported through the included Blackmagic Videohub software control panel for Mac and Windows, as well as compatible Videohub Smart Control Pro and Videohub Master Control Pro hardware control panels. The system also includes the Blackmagic Videohub SDK and Ethernet Videohub Control Protocol for integration into professional control systems.

The Videohub 40×40 12G is housed in a compact 2U rackmount chassis, making it suitable for installation in broadcast racks, OB vehicles, production studios, control rooms and other professional video infrastructure. It features dual internal 100–240V AC power supplies for redundant power operation and consumes up to 46.5W. Crosspoint routing connections are preserved and restored instantly following power interruption.
